Hi guys I just both a second hand I30 one week ago the car is awesome only problem I have is a moldy smell coming from the aircon as soon as I turn on the fan i get a very nasty moldy smell .
I changed the pollen filter but the smell is still present , I both a foaming anti bacterial molding solution and spray the air vents but the smell is still here the only thing I could not do is apply the foaming solution on the exchanger/Evaporator I was not able to find it. So can you guys help me with pointing out where the exchanger/Evaporator is and how to access it OR give me a solution to get rid of this nasty smell .

My car is I30 1.4 110hp regular Aircon .

Thanks sorry for my English .

My car started to smell very bad a few months ago.  I bought an 'aircon bomb' which worked very well.  Similar to this one -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/air-con-cleaner

You set it to spray out all of the contents when the engine is running and aircon set to recirculate for about 20 minutes. :)  You are outside the car when it is working of course - all the windows should be closed.

The antiseptic gets into the workings of the aircon.

I hope it works for you. :)

I did have a thought afterwards - some people's i30s seem to lock all the doors if you leave them, though I forget the circumstances.  Which could be bad if you only have one key!  Maybe having the driver's window open and taping some cardboard over it might be safer.  :D

p.s. welcome to the club :)

diablo's solution will work, but the smell eventually will come back, the reason this happens,(the mouldy smell that is)all car A/cons have a small condensation tray, then a drain to outside, over a period of years, these trays even though they do not overflow(because the drain stays clear)they do collect dust and dirt over the years,so some of the condensation saturates this crud and after a time gives you the mouldy smell.
I have never had to pull the condensation tray out of and I30,but I have done a few commodores, fords and my old Nissan Ute,some condensation trays are easy to clean but most are dang hard work, but once cleaned and also running something like Diablo suggested will give you many years smell free running

Diablo I have a second key and my doors didn't lock now a question do I need to wait for 2 - 3 days for the effect of the AIR CON CLEANER to kick in because I follow the instruction put the canister in the car shot the doors windows put the ac on 4 and cold circular air flow waited 20 minutes then open the doors let the car vent for 1 hour , I run the fan I get now a moldy smell and the CLEANER minty / chemical flavor should I wait for day or two for the moldy smell to go a way :scared:.

Oh, I wasn't expecting that to happen.

After I did mine I left the windows open for an hour or two and it was okay. Well it did smell like I'd just picked up a huge pile of dry cleaning for a couple of days but that wore off and now it smells of nothing.

The aircon on my last car (renault Laguna) had no problems at all in ten years.

I think he bought the car second-hand, so probably wouldn't know how often if was used. He lives in a rather warm country so I assume it has been run often.

This i30 is the first car I've had which I haven't bought a Haynes manual for. :) So I can't help on draining trays or anything.

Manual is available online to download from Haynes for 2008 - 2010 models -

http://www.emanualonline.com/Cars/Hyundai/Hyundai-i30-Workshop-Manual.html

Doesn't specifically mention the air-con in what it covers though.
