Having been on the forum a while i've noticed a lot of differences between the offerings per country. I'm sure that many have culturel differences (Trim level names), political driven differences (engine types) and market positioning based on competition.

I can only really talk about the Dutch market, because thats where i bought my car, so here are the possibilities for an i30 in the Netherlands........(The new 2015 models aren't listed yet)

Engines ... only a 1.6 petrol or 1.6 diesel, all with Blue Drive.

Gearbox ... ONLY 6MT (no automatic)

Paint ... Phantom Black, Sleek Silver, Grey and White.... That's it, the only colours you can choose in the Configurator.

Body type ... 5drs and Tourer (no 3dr)

Trim levels in order of luxury ... i-Motion, Business Edition, GO!, GO! i-Vision (this would be the most difficult to compare, i think, but i have a GO! and it's very well loaded, Sat Nav, Led rear light cluster, camera, heated windscreen wipers, height adustable passenger seat, split airco..... all standard.

BTW, the GO! trim level was a special for the World Cup last year (Hyundai one of the main sponsers), but they're selling them.

Price ... Ranges between  19,995 and 23,495 euros (ex any options)

I'm interested to know what differences there are per country, so if anyone is game..........

Lot's of differences there, like electrochromatic rearview mirror, that was standard on mijn, but i got 15" alloys

I reckon my GO! is inbetween the Elite and Premium.

One big difference is that we get 5 years warranty unlimited mileage, and the Hyundai insurance covers 5 years new car if written off.
Also there's a 5 year (European) Mobility Guarantee included.

Good idea for a thread :goodjob2:

Here in SA we get the i30 in the 1.6 Premium Manual, 1.6 Premium Auto, and 1.8 Executive Manual. The 1.8 gains a leather interior and 17" alloy wheels over the 1.6 models.

The warranty is 5 year, 150'000km (whichever comes first), and optional extras include the following:

Front Park Assist
Headlight guards
Bonnet guard
Slimline window visors
Cellphone cradle
Bike racks
Roof racks
Wheel locknut set
Safety film
Detachable towbar
Roof mounted bike carrier
Towbar mounted bike carrier
Roof storage box

All the other features are standard which I will list a bit later this weekend (about to go watch the rugby :happydance:)

Very good Idea for a thread Dave!

Not a lot of active NZ members so I have added this from the New Zealand Hyundai site ... First thing you will notice is they are dear relative to Aussie pricing even taking exchange rates into account!

So, no 1.6 petrol? That is a surprise. I can understand not marketing the 1.4, that's a tad underpowered. Wow.

Unless you want a 'Wagon' (Tourer in AU/UK) - in which case 1.6 is the only option - http://www.hyundai.co.nz/new-cars/small-cars/i30-wagon/specifications/

Interestingly the AU models of i30 mention touchscreen audio unit, but the NZ ones don't (and in the interior promo shots a unit with a blue-background and small screen is shown).

that is an interesting pickup..  :goodjob:

AT the price they pay in NZ they should get a Bose sound system!  :whistler:

I agree  :)   Particularly aware of it due to the story I alluded to in my FD-01 headunit topic - probably post about that soon here :link: A story with two i30s and a Getz - and doesn't involve prangs.

The Dutch i30 have touchscreen radio's as the standard option, too. There are apparently 4 versions.

The Sat Nav upgrade is around 1200 euro's extra

Some of these NZ differences affect i30 but are not totally i30 specific.   In writing the story, and checking details, it made me recall other NZ differences.   Including a general market one that would have an effect on i30 options (at least ones in the used market) - and makes option hunting in NZ a bit more interesting than AU.

So first the 'new' market:
  • For i30 - I noted in the story about the AU/NZ naming of feature levels appear to map (with small feature differences - such as headunits).  I then realised NZ doesn't seem to have the 'SR' - the 'Elite Limited with sunroof' looks to be top-range.  But this also seems to show an undocumented difference in specs of new i30 in NZ.   See my points in the used section - in regards to NZ "SR"s.
  • In NZ the Hyundai new car warranty is 3years/100,000km  - with up to 36 months extensions that can be purchased it seems, which they refer to as an extended warranty - here.  As opposed to AU 5years/unlimited.

The 'used' market:
  • Lets get the easy one out of the way - Hyundai NZ also offers a used car 'extended' warranty (as long as it is less than 10years old and less than 200k km) - here.
  • Now the interesting, general market aspect, that makes many options available - that is NZ is quite open to 'used imports'.   AU car industry, manufactures and others, have usually used NZ as an example of why not to do it - but it seems the main reason given is/has happening/ed anyway... major car assembly/manufacture going offshore (but that is another topic entirely).
  • Which gives rise to the term 'NZ New' - a used car with no previous owners/registration in NZ  i.e used models being imported from different countries.  New cars imported to NZ are usually just called 'New'; as 'NZ New' has used import connotations; with 'Near New' implying a low k used car that was new when imported.

So we see things like:
  • 2x i30 Elites - both 'NZ New' (inferring used import - Edit 14/09/15: the inference may not be correct... but then it doesn't explain the head-unit difference).  One is 2013 (2.0L) the other 2014 (1.8L) per listing.   The '13 has a touch screen with satnav, the '14 doesn't - both are Elites.  Assuming someone didn't switch head-units at some point - it would indicate cars from different markets... the '13 is probably ex-AU. In fact these are both at the same dealer :link: 2013 and :link: 2014
  • Then we get 'i30 ELITE LTD SR' appearing - interesting  to note... both examples below have satnav and a SunRoof (SR?) - while the sunroof is listed as an option (for the 'Elite Limited') by Hyundai, the satnav doesn't seem to appear in the brochures, online, etc..   Neither mention 'NZ New' so implication is they were imported new (making them NZ stock/spec).   So it could be an undocumented feature of the Limited (possibly when with sunroof only) - unless this is a commonly done upgrade by dealers themselves.
    • A near new :link: i30 'ELITE LTD SR' - the badging doesn't seem to have 'SR' and later they write 'i30 SR ELITE LTD'.  It makes me think the 'SR' is probably an abbreviation used by some dealers indicating the sunroof, as opposed to the AU i30 SR badge.   Being the 'sports tuned' suspension isn't mentioned, front grill is not painted (colour of body) with black insert and badge seems only to say 'Limited'.
    • Here is :link: another - yet another elsewhere doesn't mention SR at all but has Sunroof in the description.
  • Of course, for all I know, the 'SR' badge in AU may also be for 'SunRoof' - but given the other features it is probably for, or meant to imply: 'Sports Raced', 'Super Rally', 'Super Refined', 'Silly Racers', 'Stupid Remake', 'Shifter Returned', 'Split Rear' (seats) or something.   Yeah I got a bit silly there

Hyundai Insurance with 5 year new replacement for a write off??

Five year 'mobility cover' is what?

Hyundai UK has 5 year warranty but 5 year breakdown for the UK only.  My previous Hyundai cars, a  Getz and two Terracans, had 5 year breakdown for all Europe.  France only has 3 year breakdown which caused me problems when my Terracan broke down there in year four.  Did eventually get the  €60 refunded by the French dealer but paid a £25 bank fee for currency conversion!
