£50 will not fill your tank - so it's not as bad as you think.

If you really want to measure your economy you need to do a brim to brim calculation. Search this forum, you will find plenty of advice on how to do it.

Perhaps you're driving it as you would a petrol engine...  :undecided:
You don't need to rev the bags out of a diesel, use the torque and keep revs low...between 1800 & 2800rpm, do that and hopefully you'll see an improvement in your fuel economy...

I understand what your saying mate but my dad even took it for a drive and couldn't so any better in he owns a new model i30 14 plate and strives a diesel taxi bup still couldn't get any better I'd understand if I was booting it but due to my little girl being in car I take it pretty easy I am however experimenting a little at the moment so I'll take on board what you said about the revs and see what happens :) it's going back to Arnold Clark tomorrow also to see what they say ÷)

What is the total distance the car has traveled, so far. Is it new or 2nd hand car.

 :whsaid:

That was my thought too.
If it's a brand new car, diesels take quite a few thousand kms to free up.
It also depends on how short/long drives you do and low speed or high speed, so there are lots of variables.
And also,   :wttc:

Is the display set to uk units i.e.miles and gallons and not kilometres and litres.

(Care Not usa units)

Also

Have you considered zeroing the stored data.

What could be happening is it is using previous owners driving style and data which may be skewing the results

Disconnected the battery and leave for about 1 hour as this should remove stored data so you start with clean sheet.

Much better if he leaves.
The car might get nervous and not do anything.
