Empty the glove box and remove the stoppers on both sides by rotating them:





Without the stoppers, the glove box lowers more than usual, exposing the support strap:



Remove the support strap by squeezing the end so it pops through the hole:



With the support strap removed, the glove box swings downwards and the plastic cover of the filter is visible. Remove the plastic cover:



The filter element will be visible - gently pull it out:



Note the orientation of the filter and ensure it is replaced the same way:



This is how mine looks after 16,000 miles/18 months:



I gently removed small particles from the filter crevices using a vacuum cleaner.

Refitting the filter, cover, support strap and stoppers is a simple reversal of the above steps.

Hyundai have designed this to be an incredibly straightforward procedure that almost anyone can carry out.

It's been six and a half years so I am thinking it's due for a renewal.  You've inspired me to get me ass into gear, I am gonna order a new one right now.

Be aware the fd model isn't as easy re the 2 stoppers.

Same process but the stoppers are push/pull lugs which can be tricky  to remove.

I've done both models and the gd is by far the easier.

We got ripped off! Our Korean 2014 GD Elite doesn't have it! You don't realise how much you need it until it's not there!

Maybe the Koreans don't need a glove box light because they have night vision?

Yes, made in the same Czech factory as the 3 door...

I reckon the 3 Door is the nicest looking out off the i30 range, side profile looks great and I prefer the 3 Door rear bumper

It'll depend on how much you use the fan and the air quality, my fan is on all the time and filters last me 2 years 20,000 - 30,000 kms.
Many people with Asthma and pollen allergies will change yearly without fail.

Quite expensive that filter you linked, more than double the price of standard filters if I were to change to a foam filter I'd probably do as Phil said and make my own...activated carbon foam filter media can be purchased relatively cheap through aquarium shops or just use non-carbon media from Clark Rubber or similar.

You can get online for 15 or so $, Hyundai gave me my last filter for free
