Apologies I cannot find a link .
Playing with my new toy and reading the print off the user manual I find that the fuel economy gauge only reads 0 to 50 MPG.
Any advise or input will be very much appreciated.

Mine is the same!

Alanho enquired about this a few years ago and was, i think, told a software update would be coming out to allow for higher readout.

He later asked about the update and was informed it wasn't going to happen.

So we just have the 0 to 50mpg.

The dashboard display on my 2009.5 6 speed 1.6 u2 crdi Comfort hatch (bought new December 2009) has never been reset and after 266,000 miles shows 66.8mpg. This is optimistic as by my calculations the overall consumption is 63.2mpg. However, as my odometer under reads when compared with the marker posts on motorways in France and England (with the exception of the M25, strangely) the true figure is somewhere in the middle.

@marti30 we're talking about the "instant economy gauge" available on the GD series, not the trip economy meter ;)

I know, I thought we were allowed to go slightly off topic every now and again.

thanks everyone who responded, however it does not instill any confidence in resolving any future problems, is the warranty worth the paper it is written on????s

The gauge goes 0 - 50mpg. Why do you think it's a problem that requires a warranty claim?

Well it just has to be answered, the gauge is to tell you your actual mpg these cars are sold indicating an MPG of upto  83. what
ever MPG then common sense and logic dictates that only an idiot would install a gauge that will only indicate up to 50 MPG..
As is fitting a Sat Nav that although having a use no toll road option cannot program a route to Spain not using toll road.

My Niro instant economy is scaled from 0 to 75 mpg. On the very rare occasion that I look at it and see the bar stuck at 75 mpg - I'm happy in the knowledge it is doing more than that.

At the end of the day why would anyone want to stare at the instant display anyway - it's pretty meaningless. The only gauges worthy of being looked regularly are the speedo and the fuel gauge..

Well i have the white bar displayed and in view as i use it to regulate my driving.

I try to drive keeping the bar as high up the scale as possible.

Eg.

Going up a hill, increasing the gas the bar is in the lower end.
If i reduce gas without any reduction in momentum the bar rises to the top end.
Thus i can monitor my fuel useage.

so you are saying that the bar graph is functional just ignore the 0- 50 mpg scale, but that said it should work correctly indicating intant MPG else why have this feature on the trip program.

I believe it was intended for petrol models, where it could be a useful on-the-spot indicator.

Not diesels, which as we all know are superior :whistler:

You need to flash your module with a good ol' Aussie software version and enter the modern epoch of litres per 100 km. :whistler:

I see you posted this also on the hocgb site and i agree that for hy to claim a certain mpg/kpl you would expect the gauge to at least have the facility to show that figure.

Be interested to see whether members who also have other marques/models have a similar situation were the gauge is not capable of displaying the manufacturers claimed mpg/kpl
