I'm getting used to Warning Lights on the i30 ... the dashboard warning light started coming on randomly and continues to sometimes be on ... sometimes off ... or a variation in between!

I tested for error codes but there was nothing, clean as a whistle.  I checked under the drivers seat to see if the cable was loose but seems to be intact.  I went to the garage in France and the car decided there was no way it was showing a warning light to a Hyundai technician so unsurprisingly he couldn't find anything.

I am aware that one shouldn't fiddle about with the airbag system but has anyone had something similar so I can at least point a clueless Hyundai specialist in the right direction  :)

Thanks

What's a variation in between on and off? Flickering?

What are the conditions?

Driving, stationary, turning, bumps in the road.

anything else playing up?

I always thought once an Airbag related fault was detected then it would latch and stay on until it was inspected and cleared by a dealer level scantool.

can you take a photo of the warning light so we can confirm what system it belongs to?

Or is there a warning lamp in the dash(not cluster) like the one seen for seat belts?

Are you driving with any weight in an empty front seat?

My experience has been light on when circuit broken, but goes out when repaired. The 2 front sensors on the GD are on the sides of the sub frame, they could have some road grime on the connectors. But they are fairly well protected as are the internal crash sensors.
If an airbag is disconnected, same thing, light on or off. Thing is, for obvious reasons, all these connectors are well made and hard to separate.
That leads to the most vulnerable component (assuming the programmed crash module  is not having the odd hissy fit) the clock spring under your steering wheel. Tell dummy that it is easy to replace and if he accepts that you are sane and not a habitual liar,, its the obvious place to start. Next the module, no need to programme, the correct one does the job immediately.
Good luck.

You have a loose connection (obviously) .Go to your Auto Parts store .get them to access your OBD port with their Diagnostic tool  If the faults hard on it will tell you which airbag squib is out of circuit @ start up .Probably the one under the drivers seat or the clock spring under the steering wheel . Clean with CRC contact cleaner & tie wrap the under seat socket .Regards Richard
