So I've had my 2012 FD for almost a year now. Recently the car started jerking during acceleration and the radio goes on the fritz.

It felt like the car was misfiring, so I took it in to Hyundai, they checked it out an said there was just a loose connector. I drove it home from the dealership and it was fine for that trip and the radio behaved itself as well.

The next I left to go to work and the problem was back. The past day or so the car also seems to idle a little rough and it feels like the power just isn't there anymore.

The radio works fine on FM and AM but I switch to USB, it reads the drive, plays the song for a few seconds and then goes back to FM, then detects there's a ub drive and repeats the process. Almost like the radio is rebooting.

So I'm just wondering if anyone else has a similar issue. I think it might be the battery nearing the end of its life but I won't be sure before I take it to a battery place as you could drive a new car straight from the dealership to them and they'd still tell you that you need a new battery

The symptoms tell me there's still a better job needed on that loose connector.

Punt from afar, its connection of battery +ve or -ve, or a chassis earth link. Car is running on alternator supply volts.

Update

I took the car in, turns out the coil packs were bad and they were arching. This was also responsible for radio crapping out.

And thanks for taking an interesting/making suggestions, everyone.

16GB flash drive. I've heard many say that this can be a problem but there's less than 2GB of data on it ands I've been using it for almost a year with no issues. I posted an update on this thread explaining the issue

Thanks for your report, much appreciated  :goodjob2:
Coil failure is fairly rare, the arcing also creates a broadband signal that dominates anything your radio is trying receive,

Interesting resolution, I was more interested in the Radio frizt thinking maybe a USB HDD was connected overloading the 5v supply.

Dud coilpacks and RF interference was not on my mind :thanx:
