Wheels are very cool Dazz, you may want to put some locking wheel nuts on to stop unsavouries stealing them in Tasmania  :whistler: can't wait to see pictures of exhaust tips too

Thanks Scott. You make a good point, but probably more risk of them being knicked on one of our mainland road trips! So maybe I better look into a set..  :sweating:

Just for you Trevor @Surferdude  I didn't like the black vents any more than you did.

Went to my mate Garry (who did my wheels on the SR) with the paint, but he had just had an injection in his hip so wasn't mobile enough.

Went home and did it myself. Plastic Primer, 3 coats of Glacier white and then 2 coats of clear coat... Looks heaps better.

Got two more matching exhaust tips from Toyota for $99 and a length of exhaust pipe for $10 so when Garry is feeling better we are going Quad!  :victory:

Good job Dazz :goodjob2: I actually didn't mind the black vents :)

They wouldn't have been as bad if they weren't attached to the lights. Looked too much like a rubber seal gone heywire!  :crazy1:

Indeed, much better in white.

I suspect they aren't fake vents. I think they might be micro diffusers to pull the airflow in behind the car to reduce turbulence? Possibly too small to make much impact.

Yeh that looks so much more aesthetically pleasing. Possibly even more satisfying doing it yourself as well?

Cool! you've actually given me an idea! I might find the sexiest sounding engine note on the net and burn it to CD (yes, I have a CD player in my new car  :crazy1: ) and discretely queue it up when I'm escorting new passengers in the car!  :happydance:

I heard a guy talking about that, except he had the sound of a steam train... very loud .....how exceptional would that be.  :goodjob2:

Do it Dazz, all the cousins will be out next morning searching for lost train tracks.

So I've now done around 2750 kilometres in a bit over 3 weeks.

The things that are better than the SR.

The three biggest things for me are..

The quietness. I can now hold a conversation at highway speeds with passengers in the front and back. Much less tiring on longer drives (100 kms +) Seem to get there quicker and feel a bit more refreshed. Part of this feeling is probably due to the 2nd big benefit the ride. 17" wheels with 55 series tyres will always be more comfortable than 40 series on 18" wheels.

The 3rd thing is the fuel economy. Overall since I got the car it's saying I've averaged 5.2 L/100 kms. A bit disappointed with this figure to be honest as the car is rated at 4.2 L/100 km's overall and I usually can get pretty close to the ADR figures. It should average under 5.0 on the flatter north island roads with 100 kph speed limits. Most Tassie highways are 110 Kph limit and I set the cruise at 114 kph. I am using E10 though which may be making a difference. E10 is up to 20 CPL cheaper than Premium down here. I have to run at least 95 Octane (sticker on cap says e10 is acceptable). Some stations only offer 98 premium (not 95) and this can be even dearer.

I may do a trial with a full tank of 98 but can't see it being cost effective as it would have to make well over 10% difference to the economy.

Some of the other things that are better include the Full LED headlights with Auto dipping. The reverse camera is much clearer and higher resolution (i think) and loses little if any clarity at night. The electronic handbrake is entirely automatic.  :goodjob:

It steers, handles and brakes very well for a big car but not quite as sharp as the SR. I miss the chuck ability and zippiness around town. It's obviously not a car you can throw around roundabouts like the SR. It will get up and boogie on the highway but 0-100 kms is low 8's (so about 1 second slower than the SR DCT)

So pretty much the only significant negatives are to do with the user friendliness of the menus systems and the lack of Android Auto. Plus the overly cautious behavior of the Auto cruise around town.

I'm still fine tuning my quad exhaust mod.

Yeah, top modding Dazz :goodjob:

Are the extra tips just cosmetic or have you bridged to the existing pipe...?

I wonder what it looks like from behind on a cold morning - lopsided exhaust fumes anyone? :snigger:

Thanks guys. Purely cosmetic, but reasonably convincing until a cold start. My Mate Dorian already pointed that out as an "issue".. He was following me the other day and commented how much stuff comes out of the exhaust under hatd acceleration.

Will confuse a few people.
