Hello,

I am having an issue with my 2008 i30, which is really killing me.

Quite a while ago, our front wiper starting to acting strange.

Since I don’t know the setting names, I’ll be giving my version of the wiper speed stick  :P

Fastest - WORKS
Fast - WORKS
Interval mode - Faulty, only goes halfway and halfway back.
One wipe mode - faulty, halfway per push

Rainy days is no problem, since the fastest speeds works, but light dust rain is becoming hell, since I have to click it twice every time I need to clear the front screen for rain.

The faulty speeds also makes the wiper go out of sync, so it stops right in the middle of the window.

Please guys and girls. Share your knowledge and help.

I just wasted a lot of time and money, replacing the wiper motor and buying wiper arm puller to even get the wiper arm off.

  :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1:

It is NOT a faulty wiper motor.

Where is the relay for wiper motor. I only found a working fuse for wiper relay.

What can cause this problem. I need it fixed ASAP  :happydance:

Sounds like the wiper switch/stalk is faulty to me :undecided: an auto electrician can sometimes fix the switches though might be cheaper to grab a second hand one from a wreckers.

Wait for others opinions, there's more knowledgeable people on electrics here than me :)

x 2 (not 2 stalks)  :snigger:

I agree with Craig's assessment.  :goodjob:

I always thought once the wiper motor was initiated it , even if it was turned off the contact remained until it returned to the home position and the motor only travelled in one direction.

Don't have an answer but  does this mean the motor  is going in one direction , gets half way then reverses direction?

wiper relay, located in main fuse box, the lid will have the labels, only one of that type in there unfortunately so you can't swap another for a quick test but looks to be a common relay in Hyundai / Kia if you happened to have another to borrow from.

I'm doubtful it's the stalk, that enables the function , does not really control it. It goes stalk, BCM, wiper relay, wiper motor for the intermittent and mist functions..

Lo and Hi speeds go direct to the motor

Since they work and the other does not, BCM and relay are common on th efaulty side of the house.

BCM  is inside the car behind the centre fascia and radio, controls plenty of other things too .

Example BCM

:plus1: for the timer relay in the first instance, followed by the BCM. I discount the stalk for the reason given above, and the motor for the fact it's been replaced.

Does anybody knows, if wiper motor has electronic module attached to it (for registering wiper stop). The relays are just timers, should be able to hear it clicking. I am not suspecting motor, as it is working on full. The only issue is relay, or electronic module (within wiper motor, or BCM, power grounds).

From what I see in the diagrams it has a parking switch which is internal, the rest I've described the modules involved above

Wow !

So many good suggestions.

I will keep everything in mind.

To be honest I was going to check the wiper switch / stalk thing

But now i am thinking about finding that wiper relay..

I just don’t get how I missed that relay last I checked the main fuse box. Is it named something different on the label ?

Anyway. I will keep u updated, hopefully with a solution next time  :goodjob2:

Thank you so much all of you !

You could take an image of the box and post it. I'm assuming the fuse box is fairly generic across the models. pretty sure it's labelled in the lid and has FRONT WIPER RELAY

Hello again.

i've located the relay, and will be testing a different one from a friends i30.

i also found a bosch relay with same relay specs as the original. would that be alright? since the original is difficult to find in any danish shops.

Won't be ordering anything before i am sure  :P

If it's same spec same size same pin out then it should work.

Specs are what determines similarity, the more the better. Feel free to post a comparison and we'll comment.
