Hey All,

Long time lurker, first time poster!

Like a lot of the other PD 1.6T owners out there, i also have been suffering from starting issues with my car. It has been back to the dealer twice for it, first time was "we could not identify the problem" second time "we applied a firmware update to resolve". Alas, the issue persists!

This morning was a different morning for me, car started well no issues. However halfway through the trip to work i notice it started to run a little rough.
With the slightest mention of an incline, and it would really get rough. Eventually it gave up and coughed to a stop with the engine light on, and i cruised it into a side street.

Funnily enough, it started fine again after a few minutes, so i decided i would move it into a car park and wait for roadside to come take a look. In the short 100m or so to the side street parking, it sputtered out twice with the engine light. Roadside suggested it was a failed ignition coil, and confirmed the error code showing cylinder 1 was misfiring.

It has been towed to my local Hyundai who have taken a look at it today. They suspect that it has a failed injector instead at this stage, although will continue a thorough investigation tomorrow and keep me updated.

I am not sure if the two issues are related, they would't confirm. However i thought i would dump a post here for you guys, and i will update as i hear back from them :)

Cheers

G'Day perfekion,
It's not at the moment is it.
Thanks for info.
Misfiring pot, usually only 4 things,  spark and fuel the usual suspects.
Another one not  doing its designed purpose.
Keep us posted , oh make sure you get as much info in writing as you can, easier to keep track of what was done/said.  :victory:

Welcome Perfektion, Sorry to hear that.

Feel free to refer them to all the threads on here regarding the warm start issue and the replacement of the injectors being the only successful long term fix. Be firm but fair. Hope they don't keep stuffing you around.  :undecided:

The dealer has called me back today. They took the part numbers of all the injectors and ran them through their internal "technical system" to determine if there were any "faults".

The service manager would not confirm if there was or what they were, however confirmed that they have order a full set of injectors and will replace them tomorrow when they arrive. They anticipate this will resolve the issue, and that the car will be back on the road Friday night.

I will push for some more technical details and see what they give. I'll be glad to have it back with minimal fuss. To be honest so far they have seemed very quick and fair with no stuffing around.

I'll keep you updated :D  :goodjob:

Sounds good.  That has fixed most others with  the  same issue.  Appears there was a dodgy batch of injectors.  :goodjob2:

Just an update for everyone, sorry for the delay I have been a bit busy with work!

I picked the car up on Friday last week, no charge all under warranty. So far all is well, and I have yet to encounter the warm start issue.

Looks like it might have just been a bad batch of injectors. The service manager indicated this was the case, and advised that it was overfueling which eventually caused it to crap out. Beforehand he indicated it was running a bit rich, and therefore the plugs needed to be replaced as well.

Hopefully that's the last of it!

Cheers guys.
