looking for capped price service schedule of costs
« August 30, 2019, 10:53:35 »
Does anyone have a link to the current pricing of the capped price service charges.
My 2013 i30 is due for its 6yr service and I am deciding whether to continue with Hyundai dealer or go to my friend's recommended dealer who is around the corner from me. Sat Nav free updates finished at 5yrs so can't see benefit of staying with Hyundai dealer if he is more expensive.
Thanks for your comments

Hi There sydney lady. They don't seem to make it easy to work out the so called fixed price for a particular vehicle/milage/year do they. Even if someone finds the appropriate schedule there is no guarantee the dealer you use will charge exact what's on the list. If you then query it they will say oh but we used some injector cleaner or we rotated the tyres and there is an additional charge for that.

My suggestion would be to email a couple of different dealers with your vehicle rego and details and ask for a written quote for your next service. Be an interesting exercise. I bet they will differ. Then you can do similar verbally or in writing with an independent or two.

Hi Dazzler, I did a google search on auto guru and got these results for my area,
  :link: Quote results - AutoGuru
I'll check with dealer and the local guy also to compare.
I thought with capped pricing the dealers charges should be the same, but as you say they are likely to add on other items that were 'needed'. 'sigh'

That's interesting about Autoguru. I didn't know that service was available looks like around $300 is the norm. If your dealer quotes $300 or less might as well use them as I assume that will still give you complimentary road side assistance?

Myself and some other members buy our own quality oils and some other service parts on special and they usually take more off than what I've paid so I get a net saving...

Thanks Galixia,

@Sydney Lady if this works for you,  I'd recommend you print it out and show it to them when booking in your car..

Capped price servicing for petrol model i30's in 2013 was $220, I think it only lasted for 3 or 5 years though then they'll ramp up the prices.

Interestingly enough my last full service a few weeks ago at Giant they tried the full charge $290 on with me.

I asked why the sudden high coast when all other services done here have been $110, oh we'd go out of business at that price he tells me, I said you had better check you computer for my previous services and the managers notes which state that you are only to run diagnostics and safety checks then perform the oil change with my supplied oil and filter...he came back a couple of minutes later and apologised :D

I don't use their fuel treatments and they aren't allowed to wash my vehicle or touch my wheels without authority so what they perform is very limited, I provide my own oil and filter which generally cost me about $60 on specials.

Hyundai website is down for maintenance, I had previously tried to get a quote online but it kept going nowhere. Now got message "Taking a short break.
We’re currently undergoing scheduled maintenance to improve your Hyundai experience. The site should be back up and running shortly, thank you for your patience."

Doesn't surprise me. I had similar difficulty when trying to preempt my 60k service cost..

For info, I finally went into my Suttons dealer and they looked up the service cost and details on their own hyundai website & printed it off for me, the capped price cost for 6yr service is $350. Roadside assistance is included though I have kept up my NRMA membership $60 this year (less the roadside assistance cost)  as i have car and home contents insurance with them and get discounts.
Not sure now which way to go.. NRMA membership plus roadside assistance is $110 per year.
decisions, decisions

That does sound a bit dear. I guess it depends on a lot of factors. How you find them to deal with. Convenience of their location compared to other alternatives. Do thy offer a free loan car (or a while you wait option) If you tell them you're shopping around for the best deal on your ongoing servicing at the same time you ask about a loan car..  :whistler:

Good luck with it.

Call a couple of dealers to see if you can do better.

I keep remembering the time my daughter in law rang for a quote on her i20. My son thought it was a bit high and rang the next day with the same query and was quoted nearly $100 less.

The dealer drops me back home in morning and collects me when car is ready in afternoon. I also get a 10% discount when service is booked in advance which I always do.  Plus I just received a spend and save offer in mail, service+spend $300 save $50, $400 save $70, $500 save $100. I will clarify with them if this applies to the normal $350 service cost total. If so, cost should reduce to $265.  This then looks to  be worth taking up as long as they don't try to add on unnecessary options.

Sounds like you might have had a win. I doubt they will give you 10% off and the $50 off as well. But even the $50 off probably makes it worthwhile considering everything else we discussed.  Just tell them beforehand you want no add ons without a phone call. If they get you to sign something when you drop it off. Write that above your signature.  :goodjob:

They do ring me if they think something else needs to be done, only problem is that I don't have the knowledge to know if what they are telling me really needs to be done immediately and have to give them an answer immediately.
Guess I could always say no and then check what they say with local mechanic. :undecided:

I'll check with them monday to see if I get both the 10% pre book discount plus the $50 discount, telling them I have been checking around for best deals.

Worth a try. Most offers have fine print saying not available with any other offer...

Final update.
Well I tried but I have to spend the extra amount over the service cost to gain the extra discount. :'(
Yes, the fine print did say not available with any other offer.

However I decided to have car serviced at the dealer as it still works out cheaper with the 10% pre booking discount and road service included. and of course the complimentary car wash.

I can wait there as service should only take around 2 hours and they have a comfortable waiting area with free tea coffee, mini cereal boxes and TVs.

Thanks to everyone for their input  :goodjob:. I love this forum as it has great information although some of it is a bit too technical for me.

If in doubt , or just curious about anything,  throw it up here,  that's what the forum is for.
If the  response is too technical, just say so .
Sometimes discussions between the brainiacs is way up there
Don't forget,  if you have nrma or similar,  tell them about HY Road Assist to get your discount.
Enjoy the coffees at the dealer,  go look/ test drive some new ones to pass the time  :victory:
