Frank is working out well, I'm enjoying the old bikes and there will be a few more retro events later in the year as well. No brevets to report yet for this year, but squeezing in a few km in between all the rain we have had. Here's a few pics from out in the woods, and receiving an award at the recent Audax meeting. Some people ride thousands of km (and tens of thousands) in a year. I managed the bare minimum of 50, 100 and 150km for the season.

@Aussie Keith .
I noticed the poster on the wall behind you for the Grafton to Inverell ride (race?).
Back in 1967 I worked at the sand mines south of Kingscliff with a guy who used to ride that every year.
A few years later I got to drive that route.
You bike riders are  :crazy1:

Well its April and this thread is getting ready I suspect for the post Corona, northern summer/southern winter flood of tales from the road and accompanying images.

Some excellent news, after a record number of km's in December, my left leg seems to be working again which is a very good thing. It means i can cover more ground more quickly that in recent times. So longer rides are now feasible again.

Right now though, all club riding is cancelled owing to the apocalypse. Professional racing has been canned for the foreseeable future, event the Olympics are postponed. Unprecedented.

The working from home means I get out for an hour or so most mornings. If anyone is interested you can see where I've been here: :link: Signup for free to see more about Keith.

Well, what a year its been so far.

I'm heading gown the path of a frozen shoulder which has stopped the riding before work. No idea if/when it will improve. I can still ride a bike, but far less audaciously than previously and not first thing in the morning or at least not until the arm loosens up a bit.

So tales from the road are going to be few and far between for some time I'm thinking.

@Aussie Keith

Ask your specialist about Synvisc. Usually early treatment for knees, I had 3 treatment on my shoulder. 1st was brilliant,  2nd so so, 3rd waste of money.
Mind you I had nothing but bleeding bone on that joint for a few years prior to the first injection, due to injury. We were clutching at straws to postpone total shoulder replacement.

I bought a fat bike few weeks ago. I needed something to stay fit during winter. I can run or use normal bike when there is no snow and when the roads are not frozen. Basicly I've had no cardio during last few winters. Only few times a year I can go skiing and snow shoeing.  I'll have to see if normal tyres are enough or if I need studded ones.

Finally got the setup straight with new handlebar and saddle. Got some wrist and lower back pain with the original parts. Did a 20km trip to local quarry through forest roads. What the fat bike lacks in speed, it makes it in the pure fun riding it.

Oh my, that sounds terrible.

I did get shot, its been a lot better since and the km are creeping up again. But with the cancellation of organised rides owing to the plague there is nothing interesting to report. I may have bought another bike... I possibly have the biggest collection of Rossin bikes in the country. If not I'm giving it a red hot go.

Its on its way from overseas and when its all up and running I'll post some pics.

Its got the original finish and is showing some undercoat through the chips. Overall though it looks in fine shape for its age. I'm planning on making this one the daily driver so I'll not be refinishing it although I did give it some thought.

This one is the strada professional, another pro bike from 1985/86 and rounds out the collection. I'm thinking of going full neo on this one (new drivetrain and wheels). I like the way they ride compared to carbon and with new components, bar mounted shifters, modern brakes and wheels etc, they go nicely and are a little bit different as well. When fitted with the original retro components like Frank they are not an especially good idea in a bunch.

I suspect if I had a budget for classic cars, I'd be the guy with a new crate engine and modern running gear under his old mustang.

Below a link to the same model, but with its original mid 80's componentry. Beautiful thing.

During the lockdown I've been out doing regular ride but staying local.

Now Wales has lifted the lockdown to us English folks decided to venture into Wales on Thursday.

Thought I'd better venture afar before Boris imposes either a full lockdown or a localise one similar to that now happening in the Manchester area.

So off I go to have a ride along the north Wales coast from Abergele to Llandudno via Colwyn Bay, Rhos on Sea and the RSPB sanctuary at Conwyn.

I've posted pictures of this area before but here are a few new ones.

Enjoy....

As most of you know I can walk forever but cycling seems to aggravate the arthritis in my hips. So i'm probably going to sell my bike.  :Pout:

When out on longish rides we plan our routes around chippy's.

This particular chippy in Llandudno, next to the tram station, does, in my opinion, the best chips I've had anywhere.

The gravy is made from scratch, not out of a tin or jar, and has a really meat/beefy taste.

Well worth a visit should you be in the area.

Yesterday I took a right turn and ended up 320 miles from home.....

Having 5 days up on the west coast of scotland in small village called Tayvallich near Lochgilphead, some 30 odd miles south of Oban.

As my son was coming and he wanted his bike back I treated myself to an ebike and it goes like"sh*t off a shovel"

Been on 2 rides today, one on my own to take a look across to Jura. Was going to have a ferry trip across but the distillery is shut to visitors due to covid.

And the other with family along the Crinan canal.

Unfortunately on the 2nd trip the weather turned and we had rain.....

Few photo's
