Hi guys.
Left hand rear passenger door in my 2009 FD hatch makes a loud grinding/buzzing noise whenever the central locking unlocks via remote or manual. From other posts, it sounds like the actuator needs replacing but in those posts, the noise was when locking. Still likely the actuator or maybe something else?
Dealer (Australia) quote for new part is $420 (they say is a whole inner locking mechanism) & $200 for labour. Local Indy $120 for labour plus would source part from Hyundai. Wow!

Welcome Mendo,

Yes, can be an expensive exercise to fix unfortunately.  Sounds like actuator to me. If you or a friend are pretty good at DIY it is probably doable at home. There are quite a few threads on here as you say, some of which would include how to's and cheap options for sourceing a replacement.  Might even be a how to video on you tube. I imagine most Hyundai and Kia vehicles would be the same in that regard so don't limit your searches to just i30's on youtube or google.

Hopefully others will come along with more specific advice in the next few hours/days.

Thanks guys. I don’t really have the confidence to tackle this one myself.  The Indy seemed to favour getting a new part but I will confirm. I guess it’s not cheap and not sure how much life such a used part has left given it too could be an original and sounds like a common issue.
As the noise only happens when unlocking, could it be something other than the actuator?
