after a bit over 3 years with the old I30, I had to change the car.
bought it with 208,000 km, with no service history, for about half the market price.
had to replace the crankshaft position sensor, align 3 wheels, replace 2 window switches. over this time the engine fan broke and a water hose broke.
overall, very reasonable for a 10 year old car.
sold it with 249,000 km, with noisy suspension and a transmission that from time to time plays a bit around, but nothing serious.
as my wife decided to start a coffee trailer, we hired some old trailer for the start, I towed it with the I30, but I have to climb a sidewalk with the trailer, the I30 was not up to the task.
also we bought a used trailer that is now being renovated, and the total weight is 1500kg, way over the 1200kg of the I30 ability by manufacture.
so I had to find a car that can tow 1500 kg, and I said to me self, why not look for a 4*4 car.
easier to climb the sidewalk and we can go a bit offroad.
was thinking about a pickup truck, but this is not the car you want for a 5 persons family.
looked at LandCrousers - way way too expansive
looked at Grand Cherokee - too expansive to maintain.
looked at Rexton - my mechanic threw me out the door.
so found a Chevrolet Captiva 2012 with 236,000 km.
not very offroad car, but it handles the trailer pretty easy.
so now I am spending my forum time at the Chevroletownersclub.
this forum was a great help.
thanks everyone.
