Hi,

I want to upgrade my car radio to something modern, my car is 2008.  I'm not sure where to start? Is it easy to DIY or get one shop fitted?  I would appreiate any suggestions or some advice from someone who has upgraded theirs.

Thanks
Steve

:link: HOW TO: FD Body - Remove/Replace/Swap OEM (2DIN) headunit

Looks like a lot of fun. If you are just after bluetooth head unit they are plug and play (if you can find one).

I have upgraded my FD wagon with

Sb Acoutsics SB29RDNC-C0004 tweeters x 2
Sb Acoustics SB17MFC35-4 Midwoofers x 2
Alpine UTE-93DAB head unit single din (plays Flac Files)
JL Audio TWK audio processor
Alpine PDX-F6 150w x 4 amp
Alpine PDX-M12 1200w Subwoofer amp
Subwoofer 2 x Dayton audio RSS265HO-4 10" + 2 x Passive Dayton Audio RSS265-PR 10" in 45 litre box.

I have the same bracket as above except it's for a single din unit (didn't want something flashy)

Wasn't very hard to do , if you search on this forum you will find all information needed to remove the factory head unit and wiring.

Best sound system i have listened to in a car.

Well done!  I'd love to upgrade the fairly ordinary stereo in my 2019 Camry but suspect I would be too tight to spend the required  $ to get the result I'd want. I just want a bit more clarity, bass  and volume, although my  new hearing aids have helped a bit!

How much did you upgrade cost Mr X ?

About $3000

Although i didn't purchase everything at once , it took a couple of months so wasn't too bad.

I'm bit if an audio nut , so the cost is no problem for me.

Wow! That's probably more than a third of the value of your car. No wonder it sounds good. No criticizing you, it's your money. I'm a tight ass. I wouldn't want to spend more than $1000  to upgrade my Camry Audio and my car is still probably worth $30K.  :-[ so probably wouldn't make enough difference to be worthwhile.
