Taken the car to a transmission place for an inspection, been told that apparently it needs a new valve body for $1950 and shop owner was unable to guarantee it would fix it without further issues and was pushing for a full rebuild.

The problem though is that the transmission has no issues when shifting up,down or reversing, doesn't change early or late and isn't harsh.

The only reason I got it inspected in the first place was because it would on the odd ocassion exhibit a very slight hardly noticeable shudder or jolt when almost at a complete stop, doesn't happen often only sometimes.

Any suggestions on what to do? I would have considered paying the 1950 if the shop was confident in their diagnosis.

I could keep running the car and nudge it in to reverse at the last second ,would that make the gearbox worse over time?

Or should I get rid of it?

Hi there,

Did you miss a number out of the mileage in this thread title? Surely it has done more than 12,700 in 10 years!

Any idea how long since it had the transmission fluid replaced. I would do that as a 1st option. Preferably at a transmission specialist.

I definitely wouldn't be dishing out that sort of money on a car of that age with that minor issue.

A bit of a punch in the guts but it had to be done,I could have left it but I like a nice drive.

At least the car now drives like brand new,the interior is like brand new.
