Found these on eBay - they are from South Korea.  They look different to the ones Hemmi has fitted.  Pitty most of the detail is in Korean.  My Korean is not all that good.

They look good, but I prefer the original design, this one looks like the bmw 1 series lights,

The top of the lights looks like painted black, so will this only look good on a black car?

I guess it is not painted black but more like a window.

I'm with Dazz.  They would look good on my white i30 with the tinted rear window.  It would make it look like the rear window wrapped around above the lights.

Thanks for posting the pic. The tall tail lights is the only exterior feature i'm not a real fan of on the i30 so i'm seriously considering getting a set of these tail lights.

Hi Shame..

Looks like your avatar has gone the same place as eye30's ?

The tall rear tail lights grow on you when you've had the car a while (well they did with me anyway)

But... I still like the wrap around look these lights give...

Thanks for the heads up - i don't display Avatars at work so i was unaware it'd gone missing.

I agree, the wrap around look is great. The other 3 pics are viewable today, i reckon i'm pretty much sold.

I think they looks pretty sweet, and I am very tempted. The wife even thought they looked pretty good...

G day, Ash,

Checked out that site, couldnt say I could make much sence of most of it, wish I'd paid more attention in Korean classes at school.
I found the segment on the rear spoiler amusing. It has diagrams with arrows showing how the spoiler changes the air and presumable helps create downforce and improves the handling. I put a spoiler on my i30, but I am sure it is purely cosmetic and does little to improve the dynamics of the car.

Yes it is, and no I didn't have to replace it.

Tail lights are plug and play (IE: Just unbolt old ones, replace with new ones.)

The new LED ones come with load resistors that remove the annoying quick flash of the indicators, and no blown tail light indicator shows on the dash during operation.

As you can see by the above picture there are two boxes that plug into the lights that simulate a load for the flasher circuit.

Works very well.

All up, took my 5mins per side to change the lights.

I wonder if I could get this load resistors somewhere for my lights so I wont get the blown tail light indication every time I break.

Two reasons why I purchased these LED tail lights, compared to others:

1) They have load resistors, so no issues with the electrics in the i30

2) They have proper red reflectors in them. Adheres to ADR's and keeps the boys in blue happy.

thanks, my turn lights blink normal, but I guess this is what I need on the break light circuit, there are tons of electronic parts at work, maybe I'll create one myself  :)

Damn they look sweet!

Oh I'm definitely going to think about getting some of those for BEZ...

Thumper,

They look great.  Agree with you when you say it changes to look (very BMW-ish).  Having the load resistors is a fantastic idea.

Hemmi,

If you had those load resistors, I think you would have to change your indictor relay back to the origional Hyundai unit.

So far, two favorable votes (One from an i30 forum member, the other, another i30 owner not on the forum, yet)

I've even been asked if mine is a series two (Face lifted) version.

This far, no issues (Except I used a high pressure water gun, got some water in the lights. Found an air vent hole that didn't have it's cover fitted properly, must of moved in transit. All is good now)

I'm going to mod the LED lights, so that only the lower portion comes on for tail light function, then upper and lower comes on for brake light.

At night, they are extremely bright when you apply the brake!

The reverse lights are rather blueish/whitish.

Indicators are proper yellow (And bright)

The top section is smoked see through plastic, to a black plastic base. Looks like tinted glass, blends in well with the rear window.

Very easy to install.

In my honest opinion, looks a darn sight better than the original lights!  8-)

My led lights have the same reflectors as the original lights, are there any other led lights with no reflectors?
